Let me start by saying, I love long weekends! We got so much accomplished this weekend. Landon left with my mom on Saturday morning for the lake which is the main reason so much got accomplished...Here he is about 5 minutes before takeoff....ready, much?
Once he was off we got to work, going through the kids old clothes, Mike painted the garage with his dad. After I was finished with my chores and once Harper Kate woke up from her nap, I got us both all dressed up and we left only saying "Girl time!" to Mike as we waved and walked out the garage. We did what besties do. Shop. I planned to go to a couple of stores, but ended up moseying along at TJ Maxx for a little too long.
Sidenote: I know I have seen some Instagram peeps looking for these guys! I didn't buy them, but I should have. If anyone would like me to, I can go back tomorrow and see if they are still there!
I got Harper's Halloween costume while we were out {Landon already has his, purchased the other day and made me put it on him immediately in the store...never a dull moment with that one!}, so I felt like testing out some Halloween looks on her that afternoon. Mike was still painting, so we had some more girl time. And she ate random fuzz off the floor....weird.
We have a perfect view of the sunset and sunrise from our house. Saturday's sunset did not disappoint! This was taken from our master bedroom window!
Sunday morning we woke up slow, made breakfast and I made an emergency pumpkin spice creamer with just Pumpkin Pie Spice + 1/2 & 1/2 + sugar. It actually was just the flavor I was looking for + the whole cup got sipped. Not a drop went to waste, which hardly ever happens.
We went to the later mass on Sunday and then went to lunch at Houlihan's afterward. Pretzels with dipping sauces, lettuce wraps, pulled pork sliders that Harper LOVED, and spin dip, which she also LOVED for the WIN!
I would also like to say that I love going to church on Sundays and listening to the powerful messages from God. It really starts off your week on a good note + makes you feel positive about the things to come. I am going on the 17th to BSF, which is a Bible Study Fellowship at a local church. I am really excited about it. A girlfriend of mine has been wanting me to sign up for a while. The part that really sold me on it was the part for the kids. They do age appropriate bible-based activities for 2 hours with the kids, while you get to do a bible study. I told my friend, I am very religious, but I fear that I won't know as much about it as some of the people and will be lost..she replied "Kailey, you will get out of it what God knows you need to get out of it." Think about it everyone will take a different message away from it each week, that is relivent to their lives. She was raised by 2 pastors in South Africa + is such an amazing person! I love this friend + can't wait for this new adventure and I'm excited for the kids to dive into religion a bit more than just attending church every Sunday.
I also did our grocery shopping for the week {actually 2 weeks, I've been pretty brave lately!} and on the way home cut some of these for our kitchen table and my new cake stand that I am utterly obsessed with! Mine is the smaller one and was not $60, but I can't seem to find it on their website.
Monday. Oh, how I love 3 day weekends!
We had big plans for you, Monday, but all went out the window when we woke up to this....
Rain.
It rained and was cloudy the entire day, Landon got home at noon though and we had an awesome day at Crown Center and Union Station, which are both indoors. We had no plan when we got there, but we ended up eating some pizza at Spin which I think is brand new. It was maybe the best pizza ever & Landon took that blue crayon to the entire table. Restaurant nightmares we are.
We walked around and also ended up discovering a bridge outside of Union Station that overlooks the railroad tracks and lucky us we got to see 3 trains come through. They honked at Landon and he waved! It was the highlight of his day.
We were there for a good 3 hours. If you ever come to KC, you have to go to Union Station and Crown Center. Lastly, we did a little shopping at the Bunker in Westport and at Raygun. The greatest store in the universe!
I hope you had a wonderful relaxing 3 day weekend too! I know I'm a couple of days late, but this was a super long post!
I would LOVE to know how you grocery shop for two weeks! I have a 2 and 4 yr old, and shopping for two weeks sounds like heaven!!!
ReplyDeleteErin - I'll do a menu plan on here soon, since you're interested! It's not that complex at all but does take me about 30 minutes -1 hour to plan out each week. I despise grocery shopping so try and do it as little as possible :)
ReplyDeleteLoved this post but it makes me wish we lived closer, glad your back to your regular blogging schedule. I missed stalking,I mean...seeing what y'all are up too! ;) xo
